About the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL)
The ORL is Canada’s 16th largest public library system, serving over 400,000 people and an area of roughly 50,000 square km. Libraries in the system have won numerous awards, and the culture of innovation and community connection throughout the ORL makes it an exciting place to work.
Under the direction of the Community Librarian, Branch Services Supervisor or the System Circulation Coordinator, the incumbent assists the Community Librarian/Branch Head in all phases of service to the public and assumes responsibility for branch services when the Supervisor is absent for a short period of time. The incumbent exercises some independent judgement within established Okanagan Regional Library policies, procedures, and practices.
As an Auxiliary On-Call employee, the expectation is to provide coverage for the vacation and sick time of Permanent Employees. Auxiliary staff must be available for ‘Peak Times’ such as weekends, evenings, and days before and after holidays.
Education: Grade 12 or equivalent
Related Experience: One (1) year work or volunteer experience working with the public in a customer service or educational setting, ie; retail/restaurant or leading recreation/cultural programs or classes.
