Using the Home Energy Kit

Borrow a thermal imaging camera from the library to see where heat loss is happening in your home. This lending program is possible through a partnership with the City of Kelowna and Fortis BC.

About the Kit

Each kit contains two main items:

• A Fortis energy meter 
• A Thermal Imaging Camera - a device that plugs into most smart phones which displays heat loss.

Separate kits can be requested for patrons with iPhones and for patrons with Android smartphones.

Lending Policy

• Each Home Energy kit can be borrowed for one (1) week.
• Late fees are $1.00 a day to a maximum of $20.00.
• The borrower is responsible for lost, missing, and damaged pieces.
• 1 renewal if no one else is waiting for the item. 
• Return the kit to a staff member at the front desk of your nearest ORL location. Do not use the book drop or leave them outside the library. 
• BC One Card patrons: Library of Things kits must be checked out and returned to one of the Okanagan Regional Library branches.
