AllData is a comprehensive database of car repair information for domestic and imported cars, light trucks, and vans from 1982 to the present. Includes maintenance schedules, illustrated diagnosis and repair procedures, and technical service bulletins. For Use in Kelowna, Salmon Arm and Vernon Branches Only

Auto Repair Reference Center provides automotive diagnostic and repair information, including technical service bulletins & recalls for about 25,000 vehicles.

Small Engine Repair Reference Center includes maintenance and tune-up assistance for ATVs, commercial mowers, farm tractors, generators, motorcycles, marine (boats), outdoor power equipment, PWC (personal watercraft/jet ski), snow blowers, snowmobiles, tillers and other small engines.

Vehicle Safety and Inspection Standards Online includes vehicle safety and inspection standards and related BC legislation from The Queen’s Printer, and the Ministry of Transportation. Includes official bulletins, and inspection manuals for commercial vehicles, motorcycles, semi-trailers and buses. In Library Use Only

Canadian Literary Centre consists of book and reference content from Essays on Canadian Writing Press. The database includes book reviews, essays, author biographies, and much more.

Library To Go. Download eBooks and eAudiobooks from the British Columbia Libraries ‘Library to Go’ website. ORL customers have access to the digital books in the collection added prior to April 1, 2012.

Novelist has information on over 125,000 fiction titles. It includes reviews, annotations, author read-alikes, discussion guides and book talks. Great for Book Clubs.

Business Plans Handbook (via the Gale Virtual Reference Library) is a collection of actual business plans written by entrepreneurs seeking funding for small businesses throughout North America.

Search the Canadian Business and Current Affairs Index to more than 1700 Canadian business, education and current events magazines and newspapers, with full-text articles for 260 titles.

Consumer: 

Access Consumer Reports through MasterFile Premier. Browse under the Publications tab for the Consumer Resports magazine to view current and past articles.

The Canadian Encyclopedia provides information in French and English about Canada, including timelines of Canadian and world events.

 Kids: 

The Encyclopedia Britannica for Kids provides age-appropriate articles on a variety of subjects. It includes a Student Center containing articles for help with writing and research, and educational features like Canada in Focus.  

 TumbleBook Library for Kids. TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books. The collection has fiction and non-fiction titles in English, as well as titles in French and Spanish. It also includes puzzles and games.

TumbleBookCloud includes digital chapter books and graphic novels with sentence highlighting and narration, as well as eAudiobooks, for upper elementary to teen readers.

 Languages: 

Through Powerspeak Languages the ORL offers seven online language learning courses. Includes French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, and English as a Second Language for Spanish speakers. Requires Adobe Flash Player 10.

 Law:

Academic Search Elite offers full text from more than 2,000 serials, with more than 1,500 peer- reviewed titles, in academic fields.

MasterFILE Premier simultaneously searches databases of full text articles and abstracts from over 2,000 popular and scholarly magazines. Ideal for general, academic, business, health and consumer research.

Zinio for Libraries offers ORL customers access to hundreds of popular magazines ranging from sports, science, fashion and entertainment. You can read these magazines online in the browser or download them for off-line reading.

  Music:

freegal. Download great music from Sony Music Canada. Limit of three songs per week. The downloads are all in the MP3 format and will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. freegal works on both PCs and Macs.

 News & Current Events:

Canadian Newsstand. Search our online collection of Canadian newspapers. Includes the Globe and Mail, the Province, the National Post and many more. Cross-searches the Canadian Business & Current Affairs index simultaneously.
