Attention Fans of Stieg Larsson August 24, 2010

Stieg Larsson's wildly popular Millenium Triology is now in Quick Reads! Chances are you've heard the buzz about these books. ORL has copies of all three titles of this amazing Scandinavian Noir series - “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “Girl Who Played with Fire” and “Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” – both in print and in audiobook. Since all these titles have long waitlists, we have added all three titles to our Quick Reads collection, which are short-loan books which cannot be reserved. Check at your local branch to grab a copy before they're gone.

While you’re waiting for a Larsson book or if you enjoyed his writing, here are some suggestions for other reads by Scandinavian mystery/thriller writers:

• “Before the Frost” (and many other titles) by Henning Mankell. Until Stieg Larsson hit the scene, Mankell was the best-known and is the most prolific of the Swedish mystery/thriller writers

• “Death Angels” by Ake Edwardson
• “Don’t Look Back” by Karin Fossum

New Hours for Okanagan Falls Branch on Aug. 21 August 18, 2010

Thanks to customers of the Okanagan Falls Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library for their input on the recent open hours survey. Many comments were received that helped the branch set new hours to better serve library customers in the region. The Okanagan Falls Branch, located at 850 Railway Lane, will still be open 25 hours per week, and beginning Saturday, August 21, those open hours will be as follows:

Tuesdays from noon – 8 p.m.

Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Fridays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
