Enjoying Digital Books on Tablets or Smartphones

Create a OneClickdigital account

Step 1: Visit the website for the ORL's OneClickdigital collection

Step 2: Click on the Register link in the upper right corner. 
If you haven’t already done so, set up an account with OneClickdigital by clicking on the Register link. Enter the requested information and create a username and password for OneClickdigital.You will need to use these login credentials when signing in to check out books from the ORL’s OneClickdigital collection and to sign in to the OneClickdigital App.

Download the OneClickdigital App from your app store to your tablet or smartphone. 

The OneClickdigital App is available for…

  • Android devices through the Google Play store 
  • iOS devices through the Apple App Store 
  • for Kindle Fire HD through the Amazon App Store 

Once you have downloaded the OneClickdigital App to your smartphone or tablet, you will be asked complete a quick sign-in process.

Select the country and province where the library is located:  Choose Canada, then British Columbia. 

Type in the library name, Okanagan Regional Library. Typing in the first few letters, oka, will bring up the full library name. Tap on the name to select it. 

Type in your OneClickdigital user name and password, which you have created following the instructions above. Account creation is not available on the app. Tap on “Remember me” so you can remain signed in to the app and enjoy your checked-out digital books if you are offline. 

Finally, tap on the downward arrow to complete the sign-in process. 

The first time you use the app, a tutorial will start to take you through the main areas of the app. If you want to view the tutorial again, it can be found in the Settings section of the app. 

 

Finding digital books using the app

Tap on Search to look for digital books by Title, Author, Narrator or Keyword, or Genre. The OneClickdigital collection contains over 6,000 eAudiobook titles and a selection of over 80 Classics eBook titles.

When you find a title you like, tap on it to view the digital book summary. Tap on the Checkout button to borrow the book.

After tapping on Checkout, you should see a Successful! message. Your book can be checked-out for up to 21 days.

Tap on My Titles to be brought to home screen of the app to download the digital book.

 

Downloading your digital book

Once you have checked out your digital book, tap on My Titles to go to the home screen of the app, tap on either the eAudio or eBook tab and view the titles you have checked out.

Tap on the downward pointing arrow underneath the digital book to download the book files. 

 

Enjoying your digital book

Listening to eAudiobooks

Tap on the Play icon underneath the eAudiobook title to start listening.

To bookmark your place, tap the yellow ribbon in the upper right hand corner of the app.  To find your list of bookmarks, tap on the open book icon that appears in the bottom of the app when the books is playing.

You can find a sleep timer in the top right corner next to the bookmark ribbon. When you tap on the sleep timer icon, you can set the book to automatically stop playing after 60 minutes or less.

Note for Android users: If you experience playback issues when listening to your book, there is an option to use the old eAudiobook player: Go to Settings, tap Audio Player, and then toggle on the switch to Use Legacy Player

 

Reading eBooks

Tap on the Book icon underneath the eBook title to start reading.

To bookmark your place, tap the yellow ribbon in the upper right hand corner of the app screen.  To find your list of bookmarks, tap on the three-line menu on the top right of the screen when the eBook is open, then tap on the Bookmarks heading.

Tap on the Gear wheel icon to change the eBook reading settings for layout, text size and font and themes for changing background or text colour.

 

Renewals and Returns

From the home screen of the app

Renewals: Swipe across the cover image of the digital book to the right to reveal the Renewal option, then tap on it. You can renew your borrowed digital book twice.

Returns: Swipe across the cover image of the digital book to the left to reveal the Return option, then tap on it.

You can also tap on the information icon (a circled i) found underneath the digital book to see the renewal and return options.
