Friday morning Storytimes will start on Sept. 16, 2016 at 10:00 am.
Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) are invited to join us for an hour of stories, fun, songs, puppets and crafts. And it is all FREE! Drop-ins welcome. Please call the library for more information. There will not be a Storytime on Friday, November 11th.
Children age 5 to 12 are invited to visit the library every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for a free hour of Lego fun.
Build, create and have fun when we let the library Lego loose! No registration is required. Duplo blocks will be available for the younger set.
Program starts October 1st.
Looking for something different to wish someone a Merry Christmas?
Join our special card making workshop with a professional card maker and create a unique and personalized Christmas Card.
This workshop is free and all the supplies and equipment will be provided due to the generosity of our Friends of the Library.
Class size is limited to 10 participants and we will offer 2 classes; Thursday, November 17 and Thursday, November 24, both starting at 6:30 p.m. To register for a class please contact the library or check at the Circulation Desk.
Join in with the Sage Valley Singers and the OES Children's Choir and sing some Christmas songs in the library during the Town Christmas Light-Up on Friday,November 25 between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. The Carolers will stop in at the library on their way to the Community Center. Free refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Oliver Library.
Learn about the role of Restorative Justice in your community. Watch "Planting the Seed" - a short film on the Community Justice Forum utilized by the RCMP and participate in a question and answer session. Facilitated by the South Okanagan Restorative Justice Program.
Follow the Sage Valley Carolers and the OES Choir as they make their way to the Community Centre following the Main Street Light-Up, they will be stopping by the Town Library to share their seasonal selections. Everyone is welcome to drop-in at the library and enjoy hot chocolate and goodies, listen to the carolers and to check out our Christmas displays and books! The library will be open from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
If you are a writer or a "wannabe" writer you may want to consider joining this new writing group. Facilitated by a member of the Federation of BC Writers, this group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at the library and will focus on honing their skills through short, short stories (also known as Flash Fiction). For more information please contact the library or drop on Thursdays.
The Oliver branch’s “Books to Your Door” service is a volunteer program offered by the library that matches homebound readers with a volunteer who will pick up book selections at the library and deliver them.
If you would like to be part of this program either as a volunteer or a recipient please call the library for more information.
The Oliver Branch has a very active Friends of the Library group.
They hold their Annual Book Blast Sale on the first Saturday of July each year.
Donations for their book sale can be dropped off at the Oliver Branch from January to July each year during our open hours or you can call the library to arrange for one of their members to pick up your donations.
The Friends of the Oliver Library are always looking for new members, if you are interested in joining them; please ask at the circulation desk for one of their membership pamphlets.
