The Revelstoke Branch is located in the Community Centre on Campbell Avenue. 

There are two book slots to the left of the main entrance along the Campbell Avenue side of the building in which to return books at any time (except during the Easter and Christmas closures).

All branches closed on statutory holidays

Free parking is available in the Community Centre parking lot on the south side of the building.

Chronic Pain Self-Management Program

 

This is a free six-session workshop for adults with any kind of ongoing pain. Leaders are trained by the University of Victoria's Centre on Aging. For more information go to www.selfmanagementbc.ca. Must register by calling 1-866-902-3767.

Letters From the Land of Fear Presentation

Join author and metal health specialist Calvin White as he recounts his year with Doctors Without Borders in Central Asia. Learn about the devastation that occured to both the environment and the people living in Uzbekistan due to drainage of the Aral Sea in the 1960's. More importantly, learn about the hope and beauty that White discovered in the people of the area as they struggled with the traumatic health, economic, and political consequences of this environmental tragedy.

Children's Author Chris McMahen

Chris McMahen draws on his experiences as a classroom teacher, teacher-librarian, and his involvement in theatre when he delivers his energetic and interactive presentations! He has written 4 books for the grade 3 to 6 age group including Box of Shocks, Tabloidology, Klutzhood, and Buddy Kroncackles Amazing Adventures. Please phone or come in to register for this special event.

Summer Reading Club                           

School-aged kids can become a member of the Summer Reading Club 2015 simply by picking up a reading record and signing up for as many or as few of our fabulous FREE progams as you want (programs are over for this year - stay tuned next summer's programs)! Bring in your completed record for a medal anytime after the last program.  Enter to win a prize at each program you attend and enter your name in a book draw every time you visit the library and enter the weekly solve-the riddle contests until the end of August. 


Pre-school aged kids can become a member of the Read-To-Me Club by picking up a Read-to-me record and signing up for some of the summer reading club programs (programs are over for this year - stay tuned for next summer's programs)!. Show us your completed record and get a brand new book! Enter to win a prize at each program you attend and enter the book draw every time you visit the library.

 

 


 

Children's Programs

Toddlertime

Stories, songs, puppets, rhymes and more! 

Please call or come in to register for this free program.

For: Children 3 and younger will enjoy this program but all ages are welcome.

Dates:   Every Friday from 10:15 to 10:45 AM starting September 11 to December 18, 2015

 

Storytime

Fun interactive literacy activities with lots of stories and songs!

Please call or come in to register for this free program.

For: Children 4 and older please

Dates:  Every Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 AM starting September 11 to December 18, 2015

Storytimes will not run when schools are closed for Pro-D days and holidays - all ages will be welcome to attendToddlertime on those days

 

Lego Club

Have fun creating fantastic creatures and structures according to the monthly theme! Use the library's huge Lego collection and your creation will be displayed in the library!

No registration is necessary for this free program.

For: Children aged 6ish and older (younger children are welcome with a caregiver)

Dates:  From 2:30 to 3:30 PM on the 4th Saturday of every month starting September 26 to November 28, 2015

 

Family Craft Day

We provide the materials and instructions - you do the creating!  Create a craft or piece of art to take home. 

No registration is necessary for this free program.

For: Children of all ages. Children under 4 years of age should be accompanied by a caregiver.

Dates: From 10:30 to 4:00 PM on the 1st Saturday of every month starting October 3 to December 5, 2015

 


 Adult Programs

Spanish Conversation Group

Beginner and advanced learners will benefit from this group.  Have a cup of tea and just listen or talk about anything and everything - in Spanish of course!

For: All ages and all levels of proficiency

Common Threads Knitting Club

Do you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint or latch-hook?  Whether you are experienced or just beginning to learn, come and join the fun (with tea provided) as we learn together!  Participants are asked to bring their own supplies.

This is a free program with no registration required.

For:  All ages and and all levels of experience

Dates: From 7:00 to 8:30 PM every 2nd and 4th Tuesday starting January 13, 2015 to April 28, 2015

We will start up this popular program again on September 22, 2015.  See you then!

 

Bookclubs

We currently have a bookclub that meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:00 PM (please leave your name with us if you would like to join).  Please let us know if your bookclub would like to meet at the library - we would love to have you meet in our quiet meeting room with kettle, coffeemaker, and any furniture you may require. We would also love to suggest and order in the books that you require.

Class visits and tours: 

We would love to come to your class for a visit or have your class come to the library for a tour, a book-talk, or a storytime!  Please give us a call at 250-837-5095 for more information and to set up a time.

 

Digital Resource and eBook Help

Learn how to download eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines; how to access any of the Okanagan Regional Library's digital resources; or how to use the library's website and catalogue. Please phone Kendra at 250-837-5095 or email krunnalls@orl.bc.ca to set up a one-to-one appointment.

OR

Sign up in the computer lab at the Senior's Centre (in the Community Centre) for one-on-one tutoring with Kendra every Thursday between 10:00 and 2:00 PM. This option is for members of the Senior's Centre (anyone over 19 years can join for $10) with a basic knowledge of computers.

Exam Invigilation

We provide free proctoring services in the library during any of our open hours.  We have free and unlimited wifi accessibility for your online exams if you have your own device/laptop, or you are welcome to use our public computers if your online exam is less than 60 minutes. Contact Kendra krunnalls@orl.bc.ca to set up a time.

  

Access to the internet and subscription digital resources

We offer one hour per day of free internet access on our three computers for members of the library as well as non-members.  We also offer unlimited and free internet access for anyone with their own wireless device. Members of the library (free with proof of local address) also have access to digital resources which the ORL subscribes to such as: Ancestry.com, BC Codes, Grant Connect, QP LegalEze, and Vehicle Safety & Inspection Standards.

 

Meeting Room Availability

Please feel free to use our quiet meeting room for tutoring, studying, formal or informal gatherings when it is not being used for our own programs and events.  The room accommodates approximately 30 people and is available for booking ahead of time.  We have chairs and tables available for use as well.  Please call us at 250-837-5095 or come in for more details.  

 

Photocopying and Printing

You can print from our public computers for 25 cents per page.  Photocopying is 25 cents as well and we can do it for you or you can help yourself.  Our photocopier is capable of making double-sided copies, enlarging/reducing, and sorting. We do not offer scanning at this time.

 


 

Current Displays

We are very proud to be displaying stunning quilts by the members of the Revelstoke Quilter's Guild: Sharon Cain, Linda Walford, Bev Wiece, Eleanor Hills, Sylvia Munk, Jill Leslie, Wendy Topping, Darlene Dabell, Leslie Savage, and Dianne McKay.  Come in and view these amazing works of art.  Some of the quilts are for sale, but most are for display only.
