Summer Reading Club

Summer Reading Club is for kids ages 5 to 12. Thousands of kids from Golden to Osoyoos join the club every summer.

In June, visit your library branch or their webpage for registration dates and information about events, contests and more!

All Summer Reading Club events are free!

How It Works in 3 Easy Steps

1.            Check the webpage of your local library branch to find out when Summer Reading Club registration opens, and then pick up your reading log.

2.            Keep track of what you read during the summer and earn stickers.

3.            Bring your finished reading log to your library branch and get a medal for your reading achievement!

The 2016 Summer Reading Club theme is "Book A Trip!"

Get ready to go on a fantastic reading voyage this summer at the library!

Lee Edward Födi (author and illustrator) is the 2016 BC Summer Reading Club artist! His picture book illustrations include: The Chronicles of Kendra Kandlestar series and I’ll Follow the Moon.

Stay tuned for more exciting news about our upcoming Summer Reading Club.

During the summer, elementary school aged children can enjoy book-based activities and lots of good reading by joining the Okanagan Regional Library's Summer Reading Club. The goals of the program are to:

  • Promote regular reading during the summer to help maintain or increase reading skills
  • Develop a lifelong love of reading in children
  • Have fun

Close to 4,700 children from Golden to Osoyoos join the ORL’s Summer Reading Club every year.

The Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with the assistance of Libraries and Literacy, Ministry of Education. In many of our communities, the local Friends of the Library group enhances the program by sponsoring guest speakers and entertainers, and by providing funds to purchase additional program materials and prizes.
