Step 1: Go to the Lynda.com log in page, http://lynda.com/portal/sip?org=orl.bc.ca.

Step 2: Enter your library card barcode number (no spaces) and your PIN/password, and click Log in.

Step 3: (Optional) Complete your Lynda.com profile: Enter a first name, a last name and an email address. Click Save.

Step 4: Explore the site and start learning!

  • Clicking on Lynda.com logo will bring you to the New and Recommended Courses page.
  • Clicking on the Library drop-down menu will let you view Courses by Topics and by Software.
  • Clicking the Featured drop-down menu lets you explore by Authors, Playlists, and Software type. You can also search for a course or topic of interest in the Search box.

 

There is no software or app to download. The video tutorials play directly on your browser through an internet connection

Lynda.com is available through the browser on your...

  • Computer, 
  • Apple iOS mobile devices (e.g., iPhone, iPad), 
  • Android mobile devices (e.g., Samsung tablet), 
  • and other mobile devices that use an up-to-date internet browser 

 

Notes for library patrons

The Lynda.com mobile app is not available for library patrons, please access the Lynda.com service through link listed above on the browser of your smartphone or tablet.

You may see a View Offline option for some video tutorials. Viewing courses offline is not available for library patrons.

Or, email info@orl.bc.ca, in your email please include any error message you’ve received, type of operating system you are on, and the type of device you are using (e.g. tablet, smartphone, PC or Mac).

 

Did you get a new library card?

Get the activity (watch history, bookmarks, playlists, etc) associated with your old library card moved to your new card. Here is what you need to do:

1. Sign in to the ORL’s Lynda.com collection with your new library card number to establish it as a Lynda.com account.

2. Email Lynda.com customer services at cs@lynda.com to request to move activity from your old library card number to your new one. The email must include the following info:

  • Your old library card number 
  • Your new library card number 
  • Your contact information - name, library, and email address used for you Lynda.com profile (if created).

Lynda.com customer services is not able to move the activity from your old card to your new card until you sign in with your new library card number, so don’t skip that first step!
