COMMUNITY INFORMATION

The community of Summerland stretches along the Okanagan lakeshore and up into the benchlands between Penticton and Peachland. Summerland is home to the Agriculture Canada Research station which developed many of the fruit and grape varieties grown by local farmers. The station began operations in 1914.

Summerland sports an Old English theme and tudor style architecture.  Citizens celebrate together at the Action Festival the first week in June and the Festival of Lights the last weekend of November.  Summerland has great beaches in the summer and is perfect for winter sports in the hills behind the townsite.  The Trans-Canada trail is accessible from several points just outside the town centre.
