The Revelstoke Branch is located in the Community Centre on Campbell Avenue. 

There are two book slots to the left of the main entrance along the Campbell Avenue side of the building in which to return books at any time (except during the Easter and Christmas closures).

All branches are closed on statutory holidays

Free parking is available in the Community Centre parking lot on the south side of the building.

Summer Reading Club 2016


Registration begins in person at the library Tuesday, June 21 and continues until the last program. Pick up a reading log for your school-age child or a Read-to-me log for your pre-schooler. Sign up for any of the free programs. Children can come into the library for a weekly activity which gets them an entry ticket for a prize draw. Hand in your completed reading log after the last program and you might win 1 of 3 grand prizes

Modes of Travel Wednesday, July 27 10:00 - 12:00 for ages 6 to 9 only please

Build and fly a paper airplane, build and float a boat, and build a balloon-powered Lego car!

Magic Train Ride Wednesday, August 3 3:30 - 5:00 PM for all ages (under 5 with an adult please)

Travel to magical places such as Candyland and the Jungle - learn the local songs and crafts while you're there...!

Travel to New Zealand Wednesday, August 10 3:30 - 5:00 PM for ages 6 and older (younger welcome with a helper)

Create and use "poi" while learning the traditional dance of the Maori people of New Zealand!

Travel through Time Wednesday, August 17 3:30 - 5:00 PM for ages 6 and older only please

Build your very own time travel clock and use it if you dare!

Toddlertime

Stories, songs, puppets, rhymes and more! 

Please call or come in to register for this free program.

For: Children 3 and younger will enjoy this program but all ages are welcome.

Storytime

Fun interactive literacy activities with lots of stories and songs!

For: Children 4 and older please

Dates:  Every Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 AM January 8 to to June 24, 2016

Storytimes will not run when schools are closed for Pro-D days and holidays - all ages will be welcome to attend Toddlertime on those days


Columbia Park Storytime

We invite all daycares, preschools, and pre-school aged children in the Columbia Park and Big Eddy areas to our travelling storytime in the Columbia Park Elementary School library!

Please just drop in - no need to register.

For: All pre-school aged children

Dates: Every Tuesday from 11:00 to 11:30 AM January 5 to June 21, 2016

 

Lego Club

Have fun creating fantastic creatures and structures according to the monthly theme! Use the library's huge Lego collection and your creation will be displayed in the library!

No registration is necessary for this free program.

For: Children aged 6ish and older (younger children are welcome with a caregiver)

Dates:  From 2:30 to 3:30 PM on the 4th Saturday of every month September to May

 

Family Craft Day

We provide the materials and instructions - you do the creating!  Create a craft or piece of art to take home. 

No registration is necessary for this free program.

For: Children of all ages. Children under 4 years of age should be accompanied by a caregiver.

Dates: From 10:30 to 4:00 PM on the 1st Saturday of every month October to June

Toastmasters

For everyone who would like to develop better communication and presentation skills in the personal and/or professional life. Please call Michelle Cole at 250-814-4770 for more information.

Spanish Conversation Group

Beginner and advanced learners will benefit from this group.  Have a cup of tea and just listen or talk about anything and everything - in Spanish of course!

For: All ages and all levels of proficiency

Dates: From 7:00 to 8:00 PM every Wednesday

 

Common Threads Knitting Club

Do you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint or latch-hook?  Whether you are experienced or just beginning to learn, come and join the fun (with tea provided) as we learn together!  Participants are asked to bring their own supplies.

This is a free program with no registration required.

For:  All ages and and all levels of experience

Dates: From 6:30 to 8:30 PM every 2nd and 4th Tuesday October to April

 

The Learning Place

Drop in for help with your tablet, iPad or laptop.  Use our devices and get help with using email, social media, digital library resources, and anything at all!

Bookclubs

We currently have a bookclub that meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:00 PM (please leave your name with us if you would like to join).  Please let us know if your bookclub would like to meet at the library - we would love to have you meet in our quiet meeting room with kettle, coffeemaker, and any furniture you may require. We would also love to suggest and order in the books that you require.

Class visits and tours: 

We would love to come to your class for a visit or have your class come to the library for a tour, a book-talk, or a storytime!  Please give us a call at 250-837-5095 for more information and to set up a time.

 

Digital Resource and eBook Help

Learn how to download eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines; how to access any of the Okanagan Regional Library's digital resources; or how to use the library's website and catalogue. Please phone Kendra at 250-837-5095 or email krunnalls@orl.bc.ca to set up a one-to-one appointment.

OR

Sign up in the computer lab at the Senior's Centre (in the Community Centre) for one-on-one tutoring with Kendra every Thursday between 10:00 and 2:00 PM. This option is for members of the Senior's Centre (anyone over 19 years can join for $10) with a basic knowledge of computers.

Exam Invigilation

We provide free proctoring services in the library during any of our open hours.  We have free and unlimited wifi accessibility for your online exams if you have your own device/laptop, or you are welcome to use our public computers if your online exam is less than 60 minutes. Contact Kendra krunnalls@orl.bc.ca to set up a time.

  

Access to the internet and subscription digital resources

We offer one hour per day of free internet access on our three computers for members of the library as well as non-members.  We also offer unlimited and free internet access for anyone with their own wireless device. Members of the library (free with proof of local address) also have access to digital resources which the ORL subscribes to such as: Ancestry.com, BC Codes, Grant Connect, QP LegalEze, and Vehicle Safety & Inspection Standards.

 

Meeting Room Availability

Please feel free to use our quiet meeting room for tutoring, studying, formal or informal gatherings when it is not being used for our own programs and events.  The room accommodates approximately 30 people and is available for booking ahead of time.  We have chairs and tables available for use as well.  Please call us at 250-837-5095 or come in for more details.  

 

Photocopying and Printing

You can print from our public computers for 25 cents per page.  Photocopying is 25 cents as well and we can do it for you or you can help yourself.  Our photocopier is capable of making double-sided copies, enlarging/reducing, and sorting. We do not offer scanning at this time.

 


 

Current Displays

We have stunning ceramic wall hangings on display by local artists Jacqueline Palmer, Sandra Flood, Evelyn Fisher, Cat Mather, and Sarah Boaz.

On loan from the Revelstoke Museum & Archives, we also have Laura Stovel's Racism In Early Revelstoke panels on display.
