Using the Library Safely during the Browse & Borrow phase
The ORL is committed to providing library service to our communities, while maintaining a safe environment for both staff and customers.
We can work together to keep everyone safe! Please follow these guidelines when vising the library:
Each library has an occupancy limit based on available public floor space and staff will be monitoring the number of people in the building at all times.
A sanitization station is present at the entry to each of our libraries - customers are asked to please disinfect their hands when entering the library, and advised to disinfect their hands when leaving the library as well.
We are encouraging customers to wear a face mask when inside the library
We are encouraging customers to use our self-check-out machines where available to check-out their materials
As needed, directional signage is in place to help facilitate social distancing while in the library
Return library materials to the book drops located outside of your library branch, so that they can be more easily quarantined. Staff will quarantine all returned items for 72 hours. In-branch book drops are closed.
We ask customers to not visit the library if ill or showing symptoms. Items can be renewed by phone or through your account online, https://orl.bibliocommons.com . No late fees are being charged at this time.
We are asking customers to browse efficiently to ensure everyone is able to get the materials they need without undue delay, especially when there is a lineup of people waiting to get in.
Okanagan Regional Library has completed a COVID-19 Safety Plan in accordance with WorkSafe BC. To ensure worker and site safety, staff will:

All physical items can be borrowed for 4 weeks.
You can place holds on up to 20 items at a time.
Return library materials to the book drops located outside of your library branch, so that they can be more easily quarantined. In-branch book drops will be closed during this phase.
We are temporarily not charging late fees.
To ensure staff safety, accepting payment in-branch will be limited. If you wish to pay any library fees, please pay online through your library account at https://orl.bibliocommons.com/fines.
