Discover the basics of dance with experienced instructor Bronwyn. Taking inspiration from modern, jazz and ballet styles, this workshop is an introduction to the world of dance through rhythmic movement and exploration.

Learn about the strange, amazing world of owls, then enjoy a couple of short puppet plays. Let’s hoot it up.
Create a light up firefly in a jar using copper tape, button batteries and an LED light. We will make a simple electrical circuit to light up a DIY lightning bug jar. Your coloured camping scene will be lit up by your firefly with the push of a button!

The Westbank Museum is proud to present a children’s pioneer history. Learn about the fur trade, settler lifestyle, and maybe even meet Bartley the Beaver. Children will learn about old technologies, fossils, and other surprises.
Join us to create a unique canvas using the ancient art of water marbling. If you can sprinkle cheese on a pizza and write your name with a pencil you can create magic with us. You choose the colours, you create the design, you make the art!
Let’s have fun and learn to draw! In this beginner’s class we will learn some fundamentals of sketching. We will practice observation and explore our creativity through art.

Helen Gallagher is an Okanagan Nation member from the Osoyoos Indian Band, a residential school survivor, and a teacher for 30 years.
Helen will share Okanagan legends that have been handed down for generations that include Coyote and How Things Came to Be as well as contemporary stories by Indigenous authors that reflect Indigenous lifestyle. The stories will vary in length and there will be an art activity that relates to the story. This will help the students better remember the story so that they may share it with their families.
Come one, come all-- it’s Family Fun Night at the library! Join staff and the West Kelowna Ambassadors for some kooky challenges and activities. Work through a challenging obstacle course, test your skills at mini golf, make a beaded bracelet, get your face painted and more!

Use your imagination and building skills to build Lego creations to display in the library. Lego provided.

Through you could use another type of cheddar, the extra-old orange colored variety provides the ultimate in flavor and appearance.
½ cup toasted chopped pecans or walnuts
Cheese Ball Base:
2 cups shredded extra-old cheddar cheese (about 8 oz / 225g)
1 pkg (250g) cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp tawny port, white port, bourbon, whiskey or whipping cream (35%)
1 tbsp dry mustard
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
Cheese Ball Base: In food processor, puree together cheddar cheese, cream cheese, port, mustard and cayenne pepper until smooth. Scrape into plastic wrap-lined bowl; cover and refrigerate until firm but still pliable, about 30 minutes. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate for up to 5 days or overwrap and freeze for up to 1 month.)
Place pecans in shallow bowl ; peel plastic wrap off cheese. Using hands, mold cheese into ball (or a melon baller) Roll in nuts, pressing to coat all over. Wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.

The Writers’ Group meets at the Westbank Library in our Meeting Room. They focus on Independent Self-Publishing; facilitating authors and would-be authors to publish their own work. In addition, the Writers' Group schedules different guest speakers who are involved in various aspects of writing and publishing. New members are welcome!

We are once again offering exam invigilation for Food Safe Only. Students must book 1 week in advance and follow all health and safety regulations as described by our policies and BC health officials. The library will provide a computer with internet access as needed.

Westbank branch has a meeting room available for rent. With a theatre style set-up, the room has a seating capacity of 10 in accordance with current public health guidelines.
The room is available on open days and rents for $40.00 + tax for the first 2 hours and $10.00 + tax per hour for each additional hour. Bookings are not confirmed until the rental fee has been paid.

The Westbank Friends of the Library, formed in February 2001, actively support the work of the library and its staff.
The monies raised from their book sales are used to buy non-budget items and to sponsor various programs and events that take place in the library..
