About the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL)
This position is in the Rutland Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library. Located in beautiful British Columbia, the ORL regional library system stretches from Golden in the Rocky Mountains through the wine and fruit producing lands of the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys to the semi-desert Osoyoos at the US border. ORL is a vibrant regional library system, with 30 branches, serving 26 diverse communities, over 250 employees, and a service population of over 400,000 people. The city of Kelowna is the largest urban center in the region with a population of just under 135,000. Kelowna is known for hot sunny summers and mild winters. The region is full of opportunities for outdoor recreation from swimming and boating, to hiking and fishing, to cross-country and downhill skiing and snowshoeing. The city is vibrant and boasts a growing tech industry, both a college and university campus, and wonderful restaurants and wineries.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will be planning and organizing library branch resources and services to meet community needs and interests. The individual will develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, customers, and the community; be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and stay aware of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education
Master's Degree from an accredited Library School or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
