School vacation is fast approaching, and the Okanagan Regional Library is gearing up for Summer Reading Club (SRC) to help ensure your school-aged children don’t fall victim to the “summer slide” by losing their literacy skills over the summer months. ORL branches are planning special activities, events, and contests to encourage young people to continue reading during summer break.

Sponsored in partnership by the ORL, the BC Library Association and the Ministry of Education, this year’s Summer Reading Club theme is “Reading Rocks”. Students can visit their local branch to receive a reading record and register for weekly activities. Also, bilingual children’s musician Will Stroet will visit most ORL branches throughout the region for a special high-energy “Reading Rocks” concert; check your local branch for dates and times.
Detailed information about each branch’s events can be found at www.orl.bc.ca/branches or in the branch.
