Virtual Branch Head Librarian

Okanagan Regional Library is seeking an innovative, energetic, and creative Virtual Branch Librarian who will provides expertise and direction relating to the acquisition, management, and discovery of electronic resources. This position is responsible for keeping abreast of emerging trends in content delivery.
Okanagan Regional Library (ORL)
This position is in our Headquarters location of the Okanagan Regional Library and is located in the beautiful lakeside city of Kelowna, B.C. The ORL is Canada’s 16th largest public library system, serving over 370,000 people and an area of roughly 50,000 square km. Libraries in the system have won numerous awards, and the culture of innovation and community connection throughout the ORL makes it an exciting place to work.
The Virtual Branch Head plans, develops and promotes virtual services for the Okanagan Regional Library.
The individual will coordinate the website, mobile apps and the selection of digital library resources and services to meet community needs and interests. The incumbent advocates for online resources; provides training support to the staff; promotes community awareness of virtual services.
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited library school including courses in Information Technology (ie: Topics in Computer Based Information Systems; Foundations of Information Technology; Visual Literacy for Information Professionals)
Two year’s relevant public library experience, including one year’s experience in website design and construction.
This position is temporary full-time 35 hours weekly from December 11, 2017 to October 12, 2018. Salary range for this position is $67,337.81 - $71,670.59.
