Community Information
The community of Summerland stretches along the Okanagan
lakeshore and up into the benchlands between Penticton and Peachland. Many of
the better fruit and grape varieties grown by local farmers were developed at
the Agriculture Canada Research station which has been in operation at
Summerland since 1914.
The townsite has a jaunty theme with Old English signage and
tudor style architecture. Festive celebrations bring neighbours together for
Action Festival the first week in June and Festival of the Lights the last
weekend of November.
The Summerland Museum is located at 9521 Wharton Street and can be contacted by
calling (250) 494-9395.
The Summerland Tourist Information Center is located in the Chamber of Commerce
office at 15600 Hwy 97. Their telephone number is (250) 494-2686.
