What to bring when you get your library card

Bring personal identification and proof of address to your nearest library location. For teens and adults, you can use:

  • BC Driver’s license
  • BC Identification Card (BC ID).

Your ID must have your current local address on it.

Don’t have either of these ID cards? Bring two other pieces of ID from the list below; one needs your current address on it.

Examples of IDs we accept:

  • Student ID (School/University/College).
  • Band membership card.
  • Government agency document (e.g., passport or immigration papers).
  • Voter identification card.
  • Car registration / insurance.
  • Government issued health or hospital card.
  • Current tax notification bill.
  • Copy of a utility bill (e.g., Fortis, Telus, Shaw) in paper or digital format.
  • Official rent receipt.
  • Letter addressed to you by name that has been cancelled by Canada Post.

Personal information for library membership is collected by Okanagan Regional Library under the authority of BC’s Library Act and BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, s.26. The information will be used to administer your Okanagan Regional Library account including assessing your eligibility for borrowing privileges; to contact you about reserve materials; or to collect overdue materials.
