Internet Access

Branch Internet Computers

All Okanagan Regional Library branches offer free Internet access on designated library computers. Library policy allows customers up to one hour of free Internet access per day, subject to terminal availability and Internet connectivity. Please note that the library has no control over access disruptions originating outside the library.

A library card number and a PIN (personal identification number) are required to access the Internet in the library. Temporary numbers are distributed free of charge to visiting non-members. Visitors are allowed up to one hour per day per person.

Terminal access is on a first-come, first-served basis, although some branches also offer terminal reservations service. Please ask your local branch if terminal reservations are accepted. Most branches designate one or more computers as one-hour terminals, but demand for access is high, and some branches also have 15 minute or 30 minute terminals. Library staff cannot predict when terminals may be vacated early, so customers must watch for available terminals. Terminal reservations are lost if customers are late and others are waiting.

Wireless Internet Access

Wireless Internet access is available in all Okanagan Regional Library branches. Due to bandwidth limitations, wireless Internet access is restricted to one-hour per day per customer. Customers must provide their own equipment. Please ensure laptop batteries are fully charged, as the public may have limited or no access to power outlets in some branches. A library card number and a PIN (personal identification number) are required to access the wireless service. Temporary numbers are distributed free of charge to visiting non-members. Visitors are allowed up to one-hour per day per person.
