Branch Information and Reference Service

Reference Collections

Looking for an answer? Your local library can help. Whether it’s looking up a quick fact in an encyclopaedia or directory, or doing a more extensive search, staff will either answer your question directly, or assist you in looking for the answer. Depending on the nature of the question, we may also put you in touch with a local community organization, business or government agency that can help.

So go ahead and try to stump us! Visit or phone your local branch whenever you have a question. Kelowna, Vernon, and Salmon Arm branches have the largest reference collections and staff. If your local branch can’t answer your question, it may be referred to one of our larger branches. Either way, we won’t rest until you have your answer. Guaranteed.

e-Mail Information and Reference Service

Customers who prefer to communicate online may send in their questions through e-mail. Write to info@orl.bc.ca to reach an Okanagan Regional Library staff member trained in information service. We pledge to provide you with an answer, or refer you to an agency that can do so, within forty-eight hours of receiving your query.
